Info & Tips:
Water:
With the water plane selected you can dial in/out the ripple morphs.
The one for the raft is on by default and easy to spot.
The one meant to be used for a character in the water is off by default. If you dial it in it will show between the raft and the cave.
If you want to adjust the transparency of the water you can do that in the surface settings using the “cutout opacity” parameter (both Iray and 3Delight)
Raft and Lagoon Addon:
Rain Props:
The scene loads with two main rain props, “fast rendering” (on by default) and “high quality” (off by default).
The high quality version has a higher density.
Especially on Iray it gives you way more detailed streaks within the light shafts, but also makes for a darker scene.
Other than that there are water splashes and water “rings” props, both on the water and on the rafts.
Depending on camera angles they can be more or less noticeable.
You can show/hide them or adjust their intensity with “cutout opacity”. I never had to adjust them for my own renders, just saying it`s an option for finetuning your scene. 😉
Lighting:
On 3Delight you can change the general brightness using the directional lights that are grouped with the skysphere.
On Iray you can adjust the general brightness by using “Environment Intensity” in the Environment tab of the Render Settings.
Iray Denoiser render settings preload:
Iray has a hard time cleaning up the noise on this scene (dark, tons of transparency,…).
You can load the denoiser preload or adjust it manually to help fighting this.
The preload settings kick in at rendering iteration 500.
It helps to get away with shorter render times, but does blur parts of the scene a bit, so you should use it depending on the time you are willing to invest for rendering. Countering the denoiser`s blur in post-work with a tiny bit of sharpening works well.
